Garden Center & Landscape Service
Country Farms has a complete garden center, selling annuals, perennials, trees and shrubs. Our fountains, statuary and garden benches will provide a focal point for your garden and landscape.
Fall is for planting! October is a great time to plant trees, shrubs and perennials. It is also the time to move plants or divide existing perennials if they are overtaking their space. The cooler days and nights make it comfortable for us to work in our gardens and the plants don’t dry out as quickly.
Dig the hole twice as big as the root ball and mix the soil with a good conditioner like cow manure, potting soil or compost. Put 3 or 4 inches of this mixtures in the bottom of the hole, place the new plant or transplant in and surround it with the soil mix. Make sure to not plant it too deep. Water well, 2-3 times per week, until the ground freezes. Feel free to call the office for additional information.
A lot of the perennials are going dormant and dying back so start cutting them down. I cut down my daylilies weeks ago! Cut off any yellow or brown leaves and leave the green leaves for later. Do NOT fertilize now. You don’t want to encourage new growth just to be frozen by frost at the end of the month.
We are running our FALL PLANT SALE so now is the time for great savings in order to fill those empty spots. We hope to see you soon!
