Garden Center & Landscape Service
Country Farms has a complete garden center, selling annuals, perennials, trees and shrubs. Our fountains, statuary and garden benches will provide a focal point for your garden and landscape.
It’s November! Here is your November task list:
Time to rake leaves! Make sure you get them all cleaned up around your shrubs and perennials to discourage any insects or diseases from overwintering. Cut back any perennials that are totally yellow or brown. There are a few (i.e. coral bells) that do not totally die back so just remove any dead or dying leaves around the bottom of the plant.
Prune any dead branches or long branches that may whip in the winter winds and break off your shrubbery and trees. Save the rest of the pruning until March when you can see the buds swelling.
Mow the lawn for the last time, lowering the mower deck to about 2 inches. Use a bagger to collect any weed seeds.
Drain and cover your fountains and take in any statuary to prevent freezing and thawing damage.
Do not drain the garden hose yet. Mother Nature, still has not been watering to amount to anything. If it continues to be as warm and dry as it has been, water thoroughly at least once a week until the end of the month. Then, drain your hoses and store them for the winter.
This has been an unusual year (to say the least) with the pandemic. All of us at Country Farms wish you and yours a Happy Thanksgiving. I hope everyone is able to visit with family, either face to face or with Facetime and Skype. Stay healthy and happy!
